About Karen
Karen Cortello or "KC" as she was known in the radio business, devoted her life to the service of others.
Talented New Orleans radio executive, writer, and P.R./Marketing
professional are titles that don't begin to tell the story of her impact on the
lives around her.
In the end, it was the strength, hope, and guidance that she gave
to others through her tireless dedication to the service of those struggling to
cope with life's many challenges. Her cross was heavy and her trials were
numerous, but she walked her journey with purpose, grace, and devotion until God
called her home.
The love of music and of serving mankind were guideposts in my
sister's life, and her spirit lives on.

We are proud to announce
that we have selected the
Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation (MHOF) as the preferred
recipient of donations made in Karen's name. MHOF supports
music education and its many benefits through the donation
and repair of musical instruments to under-served schools,
community music programs and individual students nationwide,
and donations are 100% tax-deductable.
MHOF has graciously agreed
to track donations
made in Karen's name separately and to dedicate proceeds to
Katrina affected music programs and students. I will
continue to maintain this webpage to keep you informed of
ongoing efforts. Be sure to specify "In Memory of
Karen Cortello" when
making a contribution.
Our thanks to everyone for
your interest in supporting music education in my sister's
name and for your thoughts and prayers.
